Participation of President of Slovenia Borut Pahor at the World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem, January 22-23, 2020
On January 23, 2020, President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor attended the World Holocaust Forum, marking the 75th anniversary of Auschwitz's liberation and International Holocaust Remembrance Day (January 27) at the World Holocaust Remembrance Center Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. At the commemoration, President Pahor, along with other invited world leaders, laid a wreath at the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Monument.
In the margins of the event, on January 22, 2020, President Borut Pahor met with his host - President of the State of Israel Reuven Rivlin. On January 23, 2020, President Pahor also held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and held numerous meetings with other heads of state in the margins of a formal dinner and commemoration ceremony.
President Pahor also met with Miriam Steiner Aviezer, Holocaust survivor and associate of the Yad Vashem Center, who received in 2017 a state decoration - a medal of merits for preserving the memory of the Slovenian Righteous Among the Nations.
